How much of it is actually free?

All practices, 5ks and fun run events are free to Akron Public School students.  There are optional age group cross country tournaments this fall that are $13/event/racer.  There are scholarships available for these meets.  

Do I have to come to every practice and meet?

Definitely not :)  We are very casual!  Make what you can make and don't worry about the rest!  No one on the team goes to every meet - it is pick and choose what works for you!

How do I register?

Registration depends on what parts you want to participate in.  If you just want to come to practices, run with friends and get in shape you are welcome to join practices at any point.  If you are interested in running in any of the 5ks or fun runs you will need to register your student for them through the Akron Promise City Series.  There is paperwork for the XC meets that is available through email upon request.

Where do you run?

Summer practices take place in the neighborhoods around Schneider Park.  Students do have to cross some streets, but are always running with at least one other person.  School year practices take place at Lane Athletic Field close to Vernon Odom Library.  We run around the perimeter of the field (just under 1 mile).  We meet in the parking lot by the playground closest to the library.

What if my student does not attend Akron Public Schools (APS)?

They are still welcome!  Practices are free.  If they wish to run in any of the 5ks or fun runs they will have to register directly with the race and pay any affiliated fees.  The same fees apply to non-APS students for the cross country meets ($13/event).
